The Federal Public Health Emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic ended on January 31, 2022. This means that your Medicaid coverage will be affected if you do not reapply or complete enrollment by April 1, 2023.
To avoid any gaps in your healthcare coverage, including ABA Therapy for your child, it is important that you take action as soon as possible to ensure that your Medicaid benefits continue.
What Do You Need to Do?
The best and most timely way for them to re-enroll is to direct them to the following website – www.yes.state.nm.us to renew their Medicaid and other assistance benefits. This will avoid waiting in a telephone queue with New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) which will be extremely busy over the next several months.
HSD will be sending renewal packets in turquoise envelopes. The easiest and fastest way to renew is online at yes.state.nm.us, and for those who prefer traditional methods, you can fill out the application and return it in the envelope provided. HSD can process your paperwork and get you re-enrolled. The theme HSD is using for this purpose is "It's Time to Renew NM!" so they should look for the turquoise envelope in their mail.
If you'd like to contact HSD to renew or ask questions via phone, please call 1-800-283-4465 (TTY:711)
If you are no longer eligible for Medicaid due to household income, HSD will inform you of that fact. At the same time, they will send your information via secure file to the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange (Exchange) which will work with you to find another health plan. Once notified that your information is with the Exchange, they will have 60 days to choose a new plan.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We value your continued partnership with us and want to ensure that you have access to the healthcare you need. We will continue to post and send communications as we learn more.
