Listen With Us On The BT Focus Podcast

By: Centria Autism / 07 Sep 2021

A conversation with Brian Kaminski, MA, BCBA - host of the BT Focus Podcast

Each week you can listen to new episodes of the BT Focus Podcast, our very own podcast dedicated to the role of behavior technicians in the delivery of ABA services.

We sit down with podcast creator and Centria Autism's BCBA and Director of Field Staff Development Brian Kaminski, as he shares the inspiration behind the podcast and what listeners can expect each week.

What Was The Inspiration Behind Starting The Podcast?

Since I joined the organization as a behavior technician in 2015, it has always been abundantly clear to me what a pivotal role behavior technicians play in supporting families and individuals receiving ABA services. This realization has made me incredibly passionate about supporting their work with this podcast as a way to connect, engage with, and recognize these team members.

I've also been fortunate to experience growth and development in the field, starting as a behavior technician and later becoming an RBT and ultimately a BCBA.  This growth would not have been possible without the support of numerous clinicians and mentors throughout my journey.

My hope is that this podcast can serve as a way to share that same passion and excitement for our science with our behavior technicians, while sharing their incredible voices and experiences in turn one story and one episode at a time.

Who Is The Primary Audience For The Podcast?

The primary audience for every episode is our behavior technicians, both team members within our organization, but also within our greater behavior analysis community. Clinical supervisors have also used this content to teach and reinforce ABA concepts and principles with their behavior technician teams.

However, I think this podcast is relevant to anyone who might be new to behavioral sciences and wants to learn more about ABA and the techniques, principles, and concepts that go into each session - whether you are a parent, educator, or another professional.

If you are interested in learning more about ABA therapy, this is a show for you!

What Can Listeners Expect To Hear In Each Episode?

I would describe the core themes of our episodes as being a part of three broad categories: "Who We Are," "What We Do," and "Growing Together."

Who We Are

This is a foundational theme of the podcast, representing our core values and mission as an organization, which our BTs live out on a daily basis. It also serves as an opportunity to share key initiatives underway within the organization in alignment with those values and mission.

What We Do

This theme is devoted to sharing the core principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, as well as the key clinical components which make up the behavior technician role. In these episodes, we unpack key behavioral concepts, strategies, and principles, and look to give listeners relevant takeaways and practical tips that can enhance their practice.

These episodes are also a way to highlight other aspects of service delivery, such as upholding ethical decision-making as well as the interpersonal and professional skills to allow our BTs to excel in their work.

Growing Together

We also have dedicated episodes to both professional and personal growth, all of which allows us to thrive individually and as an organization. We explore themes related to career path development, such as pursuing RBT certification, as well as hear from leading voices in the field of behavior analysis to enhance our practice.

What Final Message Would You Impart On Listeners?

I truly believe that behavior analysis has the ability to change lives and transform the world we live in for the better. The more people we can enter into this conversation, to learn about our science and those who deliver our services, the greater the outcomes we will see.

New episodes of BT Focus are published weekly and you can subscribe on any major podcast platform!
